Who is Anno Moyoco?
Moyoco Anno, born in Suginami, Tokyo on March, 26th 1971, debuted as a professional in 1989. After a long apprentiship with Okazaki Kyouko, and after publishing Chou Kanden shoujo mona (kodansha, 1994), trumps! (1994) and peek-a-boo! (1995) She finally reaches success in the same year with Happy Mania (11 volumes) for shodensha, who was also transposed into a live action mini serie for TV. With a medium-high reader's target, she continues to work on shoujo, josei and seinen manga (like hana to Mitsubachi or the most recent Hataraki man, also nominated to the Tezuka manga award last year), with a style sometimes rough, and underground which she utilizes to describe also graphically the roughness and dryness of the characters and stories she depicts
Without ever refusing to work for small publishers either, she managed to produce other successful works as Jerry in the Merry-go-round for Takarajimasha (1997), shbou toiu nano fukuo kite for SHufu no tomosha (1997), Patrol QT for Kodansha (1997), a manga version of Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy for Ayoama (1998) love master x for takarajimasha (1998), angelis house for Kodansa (1999), chamelon army for Shodensha (1999), and jelly beans for Takarajimasha (1999).
She is currently working on Hataraki man, Sakuran (started in 2003 for kodansha and still ongoing) and Sugar Sugar rune for Kodansha's nakoyoshi (targeted towards children), which won the kondansha award in the children category in 2005.
In 2002 she married famouse writer and director Hideaki Anno.
